I am so glad my friend Nicole (also a super talented photographer) turned me on to the jewelry of local SLC’er Elizabeth Plumb. I really dig Elizabeth’s compositions of interesting gemstones and a variety of metal styles in her artisan pieces. I especially like her descriptions of the semi-precious stones she incorporates in her work. For example, Grady’s birthstone is garnet so I was especially drawn to this necklace and it’s description: “Garnet is associated with vitality, courage, passion, love, sensuality and self-confidence.” Side note to the hubs…Dear hubs, if you read this and you need a gift idea for me just being me, this would be a good place to shop. You can purchase Elizabeth Plumbs Jewelry here.
You can “like” Elizabeth Plumb Jewelry on Facebook.
Get ready people because it’s time to start my 2010 gift guide! These will be short but sweet posts to help you simplify your holiday shopping. Ready, Set, Go!
Love these very sweet oversized wooden bead necklaces from German Kristina Klarin. You can find them on Line+Liv.
Designer Corey Michelle creates one of a kind jewelry by mixing new and vintage pieces inspired by her world travels. She got her start by literally selling one of her necklaces right off of her neck! You gotta love an enterprising girl who can turn her hobby into a successful biz all out of her apartment in NYC. I am obsessed with the chain link ring above and the Autumn cuff below. You can view her complete collection on her website and purchase through her Etsy site here. P.S. She is offering 10% if you mention you saw her on Little Willow, just send her an email: info at coreymichelledesigns dot com.

I have often admired David Yurman’s jewelry on other women but have considered it too chunky for myself. That is, until I saw Julia Roberts sporting this ring on the cover of Elle magazine last month. I’m a huge JR fan. My sisters all have a love/hate relationship with her and that mouth of hers can really bug people which is exactly how I feel about Keira Knightley’s mouth. Man, that mouth has ruined many a movie for me. But I think JR is gorgeous and has become more beautiful the older she’s gotten. I thought she was effervescent in Eat. Pray. Love even if the movie couldn’t hold a candle to the book. In any case I thought this ring looked smashing on her and now I want a piece of David Yurman jewelry!
Shackled.
I was already feeling shackled to the indoors because of the blazing heat outside and then jewelry designer Sarah Swell has to go and send me a link to her gorgeous jewelry inspired by the organic shapes found on the beach and in the ocean. I’m really impressed that she can take inspiration from items that I usually associate with being hard and coarse like fish scales, barnacles and coral and make them into such delicate creations. Of course now in addition to wanting the “flotsam and jetsam” necklace below all I can think about is refreshing breezes and lying on a boat anchored out at sea! Shop for Sarah’s jewelry here.
Little things.
I’m a big fan of little necklaces, especially combined with other necklaces of varying length and size. That’s why I loved seeing all of the necklace combo’s in the 2010 SI Swimsuit issue. Yes, I bought the issue myself and I’m not ashamed to admit it. Most of the little necklaces featured on the models were from Dogeared, whose mission is to spread positive energy throughout the world via their tiny jewelry with a big message. Check out their huge collection of beautiful, happy, jewelry here.
With the new babe in town my postings are going to be pretty brief for awhile. It’s easier for me to do short posts of things that strike my fancy that day. So here we go with things in green that I like today. Enjoy!
