I am dying over the Spring 2010 John Robshaw catalog.  John “I-Caught-the-Asia-bug” Robshaw is originally from Buffalo, NY, like me. Maybe we can be friends? Or maybe he’ll take me to India with him on his next trip? A girl can dream right?

I have been waiting a long time for the day when I could share this news with the blog world…the hubs and I are expecting our first baby in January! I promise this will not become a baby blog but there are so many wonderful things that I have been saving up to share with you for when this day finally came.  Since I know many of you are Moms, I hope you’ll enjoy this post as much as I did putting it together!

I’m so glad Irene from Bloesem took a break from her blogging sabbatical to share the gorgeous designs of Santiago, Chile based textile designer Karen Barbé.  Karen designs screen printed cotton tiles and then sews them together to create beautiful quilts, duvet covers and pillows.  Keep track of Karen and her latest lovely designs through her blog.  She is working to develop an online shop too so that those of us up North can someday wrap ourselves in one of her cozy creations.  I’ll let you know when her shop is live!

Wow, such beautiful creations from the incredibly talented Rachel Castle, I don’t know where to begin!  Based in Australia, Rachel started Castle in 2008 making bed linens for family and friends, nice friend to have I’d say. Quickly her love of making beautiful hand made items became a business and now she and her mother Jillian Patching work together to sew artwork and linens full time.

I have a thing for spots so of course Rachel’s hand screen printed Discus series appeals to me. But on the other hand her sweet embroidery pieces appeal to my love of vintage. Each embroidery piece is created on a variety of fabrics, including vintage French linen, flax Belgian linen, Australian wool and moleskin, these original pieces are embroidered using a number of fabrics like felt, linen, wool, velvet and cotton. Her pieces are a bit out my price range right now but I’ll be keeping my eye on Rachel, she is one artist to watch!

I am in love with this bevy of beautiful bedding from Designers Guild UK.  It’s hard to not salivate over these luxurious 100% cotton block printed quilts in perfect pastels. Complicating matters, they are 50% off right now.  I’m going to measure my bed right now to see if one will fit, fingers crossed!

Dear Plover Organic bedding, I love you.  I love that you are made from 100% organic cotton, your thread count is a respectable 250 count and your lovely designs are block printed by hand.  You are tops on my wish list for new bedding when someday my prayers are answered and we move up from the Queen to the King sized mattress, a girl can dream *sigh*.  Take care of you, okay? While tweeting this morning with @design_sponge about bedding, I was reminded of Kerry Cassill, one of my favorite textile designers.  It had been awhile since I’d visited her website so I was thrilled to find out she has finally added heavy weight upholstery fabric to her growing range of textiles (below).  If you like the beachy California bohemian look then Kerry’s prints are for you.  Check out her boutiques link to find a shop near you.

I have been stalking the website of Rikshaw Designs for weeks waiting until the shop was open so I could share with you this gorgeous line of bohemian baby bedding. I’ve been on an Indian textile kick lately so it’s no surprise that I love founder Catherine Fitzsimmons delicate Indian block-prints and pretty designs. Each design is hand printed in India and is offered in four distinct collections that feature quilted crib sets, burp and bib sets and a handy diaper set. My favorite item is her stuffed elephant pillow. When I was little and had had a scary dream, one of the tricks my Dad used to use to calm me down was to tell me to imagine that my bed was surrounded by pink elephants. When I spotted the Raksha Bella collection over at More Ways to Waste Time I almost cried because they’re so beautiful. I’m sad to be leaving our little house in the hills of Mill Valley but I when I saw this lovely bedding it made me excited to set up house all over again in Utah. It’s on the pricier end for bedding, $311-$449 for duvets, but since it’s handmade in India using quality certified organic cotton I’d say it’s more than justified. Drool over it at any of these Bay Area locations.

Jeannie travels annually to France and Southeast Asia to gather her beautiful fabrics for custom upholstery, cushions and curtains. I’ve got my eye on some bedding from India and I’m definitely filing this place away for my next upholstery project. Bonus for me, Jeannie’s store is in San Francisco!

Tia and I both flipped out over John Robshaw’s textiles for baby crib sets. You may recognize his patterns from Anthropologie, they carry some of his items. Inspired by his travels around the world his patterns are so rich and exotic all hand stitched, hand embroidered and printed on the finest cottons and linens, sigh…

Since I have my awesome new chair I was inspired to redress my “dressing room” (which has a twin bed in it) so I bought some (on sale) Dwell bedding. Eventually the “dressing room” will be a baby room but until we hit the baby lottery it’s my chill out space so I want to make it super cushie and cute. Also at Dwell are these adorable crib sets from their Dwell Baby line.
