In honor of Grady’s 1 week old birthday, today’s giveaway is a personalized feeding bowl from Purple Bird Designs!  The lucky winner will get to create a customized bowl from twenty different colors and sixteen different designs.  The greatest thing about these ceramic bowls is that you can actually use them! They are dishwasher safe and small enough to fit into the palm of your hand for easy feeding.

Now here’s your question: Who have you met in your lifetime who has had the most unique name? Here are a few of mine: Abraxas Discala, went to school with my brother and Mona Lisa Doubleday went to boarding school with my older sister! You have until Monday night 2/1 to comment below.  I CAN’T WAIT to hear your responses! Winner will be announced Tuesday morning.

And the Winner is: Amy and her little girl Basil Blu!

How do you have time to blog right now with a brand new, adorable baby? Seriously!

Anyhow, I’m glad you do because these are beautiful! The obvious answer for me would be you… I think Larkyn’s pretty unique! But I also had a roommate name Audris Shau. She only found one other Audris out there… in Australia.

    Branch Twigg… No joke

I knew sisters named Ixchel and Ylan in high school, I do know some people that have some xrated combined names but unfortunately they are not appropriate for a blog lol… I often wonder what their parents were thinking! My two kids have unusual names, Demetrio and Dejanera… my little grandson is also a Demetrio and I would love to win him a cute personalized bowl! (because with kids with such odd names, there is NO way I can ever find anything already pre-printed up in the stores!)

What a great question! Um, when I lived in LA I was pals with Ahmet Emukka Rodan Zappa, and the rest of the Zappa clan, Moon, Diva and Dweezil. All verrrry unique names. Currently I’m living in San Diego and my next door neighbors are a retired couple named Virginia and Richard, we lovingly refer to them as Virg’nDick (say it out loud ;) Cheers and happy mothering!

I went to primary school with Bootlah Filamahalah and his little brother was Mualah Filamahalah which we all liked to say because it rhymed so nicely. They were Maori and were the tallest, strongest kids in their respective grades but were known for how gentle and kind they were. Bootlah carried my cousin all the way home from the park one day when he broke his leg – then left him on the doorstep, knocked on the door and ran away! He was worried he would get the blame!

I think my sister-in-law’s name is awesome: Tameisha Rae. She is sandwiched b/w two brothers named Charles Edward and Thomas Oliver. Where did Charlie’s parents come up with Tameisha Rae!! Shana’s response reminded me of two sisters I knew named Willow Trees and Aspen Trees. Mean parents.

  7. Amy Says:

I knew a girl in high school named Summer Day and of course my sweet baby girls name is Basil Blu:)

Well, after reading these comments I feel a bit left out! I can’t remember knowing anyone with a unique name, just many many conventional ones. But apparently theres a professor at my school named Richard Richardson or something like that.

Stormy Corn. And Xty (pronounced Christy).

I met a man on an airplane once and his name was Trash! The funny thing was all the flight attendants knew him and would laugh when they walked by him with the garbage bag calling out, “trash!” Quite the character he was.. But who wouldn’t be with a name like that!

i met a guy named Dork at burning man a few years ago. i felt pretty bad when i met him, i think i laughed after he said his name. i thought he was joking, it was a nickname, or some weird burner name. i just looked him up on facebook and his name is Dork Alahydoian.

i think mona lisa doubleday is the most wonderfully interesting name i’ve ever heard. i can’t believe it’s real!

i went to school with a girl named Miranda Star Ray which i always thought sounded so magical. although i grew up on an island on the west coast, so nature-themed names aren’t so uncommon….

One unique name that has remained etched in my memory since grade school is Becca Buckalew Coogan. I named my son a unique name. His name is Cashel. I think one reason my husband and I chose an unusual name, besides just loving his name, is that I was renamed during sixth grade by my teacher because there were six Jennifers in one class. She decided for me that my name would be Jennel. I hated sixth grade.
