I came across Lumas, a NYC photography gallery, while reading Silk Felt Soil. I immediately became a fan when I saw they have a Young Art section promoting up and coming talent just finding their way into the art market. “Drift,” a series of photographs by artist David Burdeny is going on my wishlist. These digital photos, taken on his travels around the world, capture the light and color of various oceans and shorelines and makes them almost look like paintings. You can still purchase most of these young artists for under $500, so if you’re building a photography collection here’s a great place to start.

Lush Designs is two crafty British broads combining their artsy craft skills to make some dy-no-mite housewares. I am partial to the lampshades but might need to have their Love pillowcases as well. Prices start at 40EURO, (about $58).

Check out the fabulocity that is Studio Nommo wallpapers! They are located in Turkey and I wasn’t clear on their pricing but they do accept international orders and will even work with you to customize the paper. They responded to my questions in English so I’d recommend that way for communication. I love the baby bird paper and the chandeliers! They have 100’s of unique designs, enjoy browsing.

Haley and I hit the SF Craft Mafia Trunk Show on Sunday to start our Christmas shopping. We met lots of great SF crafters and bought some cool things, here’s a sampling of what we liked:
3P-3 “Neat Freaks” prints (I bought the toilet seat for the hub’s bathroom)

Cara Lyndon Jewelry (we both loved her vintage glass floral earrings)

Ezme Designs (retro pottery)

Can you believe it’s almost Ought 8? I have a good feeling about 2008 and these lovely desktop calendars from several Etsy sellers will help me get prepared. Clockwise from top to bottom: Modern Printed Matter, ilee papergoods, and One Black Bird by Diana Fayt.

Gwyneth looks gorgeous on the cover of the November House and Garden. Her Hampston’s home is the feature and as expected, it’s lovely. I especially fell for the Andy Warhol “Sunset” prints on the cover.

Gosh darn these are such adorable card holders from SeaBreeze Studios. I read about her etsy shop on Dooce, a great blog to wile away the hours when you should be busy working and fell in love with the cute fabrics and designs. Seabreeze is in the process of restocking her inventory so check back often.

Yah!! Artist Camilla Engman finally has more prints available for purchase! I bought “Listen” about a year ago and since then they have been sold out. She is an artist and illustrator from Sweden where she creates mixed media, prints and paintings all with her unique perspective. They might sell out again so get their quick!

It’s that time of year again, when I put together a list of things I want to buy with my year-end bonus! So far I’ve been eyeballing these fab Sigerson Morrison boots at ShopBop. I love the block heel, the height and the elastic smocking for a tight fit, which is so hard to find in tall boots. The price is ridiculous at $498 so I’m definitely going to shop around for a knock-off before committing. Let me know if anyone see’s anything like this out in shoeland.

I love the world wide web. Check out this site, Original Design from the Netherlands that sells vintage items from the 70’s. I had no idea I needed a clock from the 70’s until now, thanks WWW!

The hubs and I have decided to nest for the rest of October and I’m going to focus on sprucing up the house. While searching for bookends to hold up my cookbooks I stumbled on Hi + Lo Modern. They specialize in mid-century modern artifacts and furniture. There are some amazing items, especially if you are a collector, but since I was overwhelmed by all the goodness they had to offer, I focused on just the bookends.

I probably should have waited until Thursday to post about Creative Thursday, the site for LA based artist Marisa, but alas I couldn’t wait to share. Part of what I love about her work is the animal characters which she names, like Lewis and Oscar, the bird and the lion, and Fiona and her cub. My bird loving friend Tia will go nuts over these and since she’s due with her own baby bird in March they would make the perfect gift for her baby room. All these samples are from Marisa’s Etsy store and start at $28, her website has some original paintings which start at $95.

This is the crochet bag Angelina has been sporting lately by Gerard Darel (available at shoprumor). Her style is too monochromatic for me and I am so over her nude ballet flats but I like this bag. Beware it comes with a celebrity price tag of $398!
