Finally the chair project is complete! 5 years ago my sister and I bought these interesting chairs at an antique shop in CA. They had been languishing in my garage for the past 2 years until Haley finally took charge and got the project started. She deserves all the credit since it was she who decided to paint them white, do two different fabrics, one for the front and one for the back and she found an inexpensive ulpholstery guy to put it all together. We both used pink as a starting point. Haley’s fabric came from designer Etsuko Furuya at PurlSoho and mine is Vanessa Arbuthnott from her Sky collection. I am thrilled with the outcome!

Absolutely love these chairs. Do they abide side by side or in seperate locations? You and your sister did an outstanding job. Don’t you just love when a dream finally comes to fruition?

HI Lil
I just saw the stunning chair transformation that you made on your blog, and was wondering if you woud be willing to let me right about it in my new book BEYOND TREND being published by HOW BOOKs (ID Magazine). The book is just about complete and all submitted, but I still am working on ten additional pages on design priciples, and your images and design sense would make a great addition. You would be in great company, since the book examine the great leading designers in the world, as well as anyone who has a smart design intellect. Please let me know if you can contibute the images, and I can either get the copy from your blog or ask you a few questions. Also, I would need the images at 300dpi at about 6 inches wide, if poss. I can mail you a permission form if you are interested in being a part of BEYOND TREND.
Thanks!
Matt

Great job! I love that you used a different fabric on the outside. I recently reupholstered a chair (solo – no outside help. Yikes!). I never would have thought to use complimentary fabrics on the inside and outside! Hmm. Perhaps it’s time to do another one. Thanks for the inspiration! -N

Hi, I just found this posting through Design*Sponge and was wondering if you could share your upholsterer’s info. I, too, am located in MV and have been dying to get a chair recovered for my daughter’s room. Please advise.
Thanks in advance!
