I have been on a jewelry quest lately. I seem to keep coming back to anything with gemstones so I love Tennessee artist Kelleigh Carlyle’s graceful and colorful jewels. Prices range from about $50 to over $300.
Tia and I keep seeing ferns on our hikes lately and they are quickly becoming my favorite plant. My fern love inspired me to search for botanical prints of ferns and I found this amazing site called Panteek Antique Botanical Prints. They have a massive collection of antique prints of birds, fish, plants, maps, astrology; you name it they’ve got it. They also carry some of Karl Blossfeldt photogravures. Antique prints grouped together are a really nice decorative touch to a living or dining room and can be an inexpensive way to decorate.
Thanks to blogger Poppy Talk for turning me on to E-glue a really cool online shop from France selling very interesting and sometimes scary wall decals. Why stress out painting your kids room when you can slap on a wall decal and call it a day. Not so sure about the Pirates though, it might be hard to explain that skeleton to the kiddies.
Sorry readers I’ve been away in beautiful Isle of Palms, South Carolina for my youngest sister Quinn’s wedding to Dr. Gabe Hillegass! He literally just graduated so not sure if he is a certified doc just yet. It was a beautiful wedding and a relaxing vacation. I will be updating the site this week so check back Friday for a slew of new goods.
Here’s a cool gift idea for your guy, retro t-shirts, hats and hoodies. 80’s Purple has lots of teams available but I gotta go with the Bills for my hometown team and the Pats for the hubs favorite team.
I am obsessed with these Massimo Vignelli melamine plates, bowls and mugs. I love the vibrant colors and simple mod-design. They are no longer produced but you can find them on ebay.
Danielle Welmond is my favorite new jewelry designer. Her designs are truly unique with silk threads wrapped around semi-precious stones, these pictures really don’t do them justice. You can see her work in person at Summer House in Mill Valley or buy online at Twist.
I like the name, Cahoots Handbags, and their inventive clutch bags made of vintage Boy Scout shirts with badges! Get yours for $60 buck-a-roos.
Isn’t this pretty and unique? Daa Glass jewelry is handblown glass jewelry by one crafty Jersey girl. Buy from her website, prices range from $60-$120.
I’ve been busy with my “real” job lately so I haven’t had much time to post at length. So for those of you jonesing for some new stuff here are a couple of my favorite ceramic artists that have been floating around in my favorites folder. Enjoy!
Little Flower Designs - sweet pottery by ceramic designer Linda Johnson - she also offers a wedding registry.
Shoshanna Snow Ceramics - One of my favorite new artists from Etsy.
I think the first place I spotted local SF artist Rex Ray’s colorful resin panels was on the walls of the original Slanted Door in the Mission District. I’ve been a fan ever since. His one-of-a-kind abstract collages are created from archival papers placed artistically on plywood panels and then coated with high gloss epoxy resin. Sounds pretty easy but I don’t see you doing it
You can purchase various sizes of his resin panels from his website, love it when an artist is willing to sell direct. Anyway they start at $600 and go up from there. If you’d like to see his work in person you can peep it out at MMGalleries in SF.
Tia peeped* this great site Flopping Fish with these fab decorative doorbell covers, switch plates and house numbers. Check em.
*Thanks Miss Hong ![]()
In case you missed it wallpaper is making a strong comeback. In this months House and Garden they showcase three hot wallpaper designers, Twenty2, Given Campbell and Wook Kim. Here’s a preview of their styles. I’m a fan of the Wook.
My shop-o-holic co-worker Hong over at my day job, just sent me a link to these darling pillows by Clare Nicolson. I want them all, but at $112 each I’ll have to start saving to buy just one! You can buy them through Style Scene.
Do you collect funky t-shirts and like to be on the cutting edge of what’s hot? If so, these Johnny Cupcake limited edition t-shirts are for you! Each t-shirt is numbered and no design is ever repeated, eat em up.
After months of seeking out a new handbag I spied it on the arm of my friend Kate Gallivan on Friday night! It’s the Matt & Nat “Suze” handbag. Matt & Nat’s claim to fame is that every bag is “vegan”; instead of leather they use high quality synthetic leather in either PVC or Polyurethane, which is less detrimental to the environment. FYI I’m not a vegetarian but its easy to get into the concept of an animal free product. Having seen the bag in person I can vouch for how great it looks, you’d think it was some sort of distressed leather but more lightweight. Check out their website for many more options in style and color.
Look at these precious dolls by the oh so talented Tamar Mogendorff! I love people who can turn a crafty idea into a work of art like this using vintage materials. The deerhead and the unicorn heads are my favorite and would be so great for a magical baby room. You can contact Tamar through her website to purchase.
I am salivating over the incredible selection of fabrics at PurlSoho. If you live in NYC or you’re going to visit, definitely stop by either of their two stores located on Sullivan Street in Soho for beautiful fabrics, yarns and pattern books. Now I need to come up with some projects to use these fabrics!
Get it while it lasts, the new Kate Moss collection at TopShop! If you live in the UK, lucky you, you can actually go into the store and buy from a much bigger selection.
My sister and I went to the Annual Outdoor Antique Fair in Petaluma on Sunday and we found so many great items. The best find were these 2 prints by David Lance Goines in amazing condition. They came from a book called Thirty Recipes Suitable for Framing which he did the illustrations for in 1968! I have been a fan of his work since I found 2 posters at a garage sale for $5 each about 8 years ago. His original posters can go for over $2,000! You can purchase posters directly from his website.
